The third and final part of the Kickstarter series ends with the Anthony Lent Campaign. On June 11, 2014, the Anthony Lent Company earned $56,580 surpassing their goal of $50,000. Anthony Lent is a designer based in Pennsylvania with a showroom in New York City, that has been in the industry for over 40 years. His jewelry has an art nouveau look of a time gone by. He trained as a Goldsmith in Germany, taught at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and with the help of his two sons wants to launch some of his pieces in sterling silver. His work is mostly in 18K gold which for my generation can be too expensive to buy. Anthony Lent has recognized the segment of consumers that want nice items but at a lower cost point, the only way to achieve this in the jewelry business without sacrificing quality is find a lower cost for materials.
I will be honest this is my favorite campaign. I even donated a small amount so I could get a die-cast penny in the object of my choice. I choose the seashell with a face. I loved his idea of high quality jewelry in sterling so more people can enjoy it. That is exactly what these objects are little works of art.
The Campaign:
The focus was on reaching a new generation and carrying on the legacy create by Anthony Lent. For the campaign, Anthony Lent’s sons David and Max focused on their Dad’s experience, attention to detail and impact he has had on the world of jewelry. They outlined how to connect with them on social media and how the payment would work. They were plenty of pictures showing the process of making jewelry. There was also a section outlining what the $50,000 they were hoping to make would go for. The pictures of the tiered gifts were clear and descriptive as you had many choices. Below is the checklist for the Anthony Lent Campaign:
I chose to donate to this campaign because of the clear goals and history of the company. The jewelry is beautiful but a bit out of my price range so the chance to own a beautiful piece made with sterling really appealed to me and obviously to others! I chose a small amount to donate that got me a die struck coin in the object of my choice, which was a seashell. The process was easy. I signed up on Kickstarter and paid through Amazon, which had my payment and shipping info. The Lent Campaign has been great at updating when rewards would ship and following up on what is new.
After the Campaign:
So what is new with the company? A lot. They are releasing more sterling pieces (check out their page for online or store options). They have held online contests for new items and soon they are hoping to have their own online store. On Instagram, the company announced that the online store would happen November 5, but it has been delayed; no other information has been released at this time. More publicity is happening for them particularly with bloggers. My favorite article is by Katrina Perez, she interviews Anthony Lent and his son, David, the questions are great and she has several nice photos of them and the jewelry (click to read).
